New Fortnite map revealed with Japanese twist and 'Mega City' location
Mapping out all the changes.
Epic Games has unleashed the new season of Fortnite — that's Fortnite chapter 4 season 2 for anyone that is counting along at home — which means a new Fortnite map is now available for players to explore.
The overarching title of this season is 'Mega', and we now know that this refers to a new location on the island's map.
The would be Mega City, a Japan-inspired metropolis where players can grind on rails, a neat new addition to the battle-royale experience.
We will say this — it isn't easy to take out enemies while you're grinding on a rail, but it sure does look and feel cool! Keep on reading to learn more about the new Fortnite map.
New Fortnite map: Chapter 4 season 2 changes revealed
Epic Games is yet to share an official top-down look at the Fortnite season 4 map, but we do know a few cool things about the new island.
Not only does the new Fortnite map have a Tokyo-like city for players to duke it out in (that would be the aforementioned Mega City), but it also has a new "biome" of countryside areas that also look distinctly Japanese.
Check out our video above, which features concept art for the new map as well as all the new battle pass skins, and you'll see what we mean! For more specifics, keep reading.
New Fortnite map: Points of interest and landmarks
The first thing you'll probably want to do in the new season is check out Mega City, the new rail-grinding city centre that is sure to be a site where carnage kicks off between players.
Per the game's official website, players are invited to "go beyond the neon towers to the rest of the new biome" as well.
Epic states: "Need a break from urban battle? Step foot on the fresh, teal-tinted grass of MEGA City’s surroundings. This city isn’t the only new location in chapter 4 season 2 — it’s just one part of a brand new biome!"
There are plenty of new points of interest and landmarks to discover in the new Fortnite chapter 4 map, and we’ve listed some of the main ones below for you.
- Mega City — a densely packed cityscape where you can grind on rails (think Tilted Towers but neon, with a hint of Sunset Overdrive)
- Steamy Springs — a good place to "cause chaos", Epic says
- Drift Ridge — a car track where you might want to "drive a Nitro Drifter"
- Kenjutsu Crossing — where you'll want to "sharpen your Kinetic Blade skills"
Finding your way around a new Fortnite map is never easy, but the fan-made picture below has been serving us well so far. Take a look and make sure to visit all the named locations as soon as possible!
